The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, food handlers within the catering and hospitality industry with the aim of this qualification is to provide a basic knowledge of food safety. The qualification is placed at Level 2 in the UK National Qualifications Framework and is an internationally accepted qualification.
Holders of this qualification will have knowledge and understanding of their expected behaviour as responsible individuals within food safety procedures. They will appreciate the importance of keeping themselves clean and hygienic. They will understand the importance of keeping the work area clean and hygienic. They will also understand the importance of receiving and storing food safely. They will understand the importance of being able to prepare, cook, hold and serve food safely. These are important to understanding and maintaining good practice in the handling, processing and preparation of safe food.
